Mr. Abraham, the club advisor.

With the club rush in Wilsonville starting up again for the first time since COVID, the Black Student Union will be starting up for the first time!

The club is led by one of our school counselors, Mr. Abraham. The program’s activities connect black students with one another and discuss black, African and African American history and culture.

The goal of the program is to empower black students’ confidence and understandings of themselves and their descent. Further, the program would like to get their members involved with more leadership programs, create student awareness and a more positive image of black students.

The club predicts that the club will start with around 4-5 students and will grow further into the year, the club meeting times not confirmed yet are most likely going to be every Thursday during lunch. The booth for the club fair is currently being set up by students and will be open on club rush day, also known as club fair, on October 15th.

Overall, the club looks to have a greatly positive impact on the school. It is a program that will allow a community in the school to gain further knowledge about themselves, and give the students more resources to be able to be successful in school and leadership, making this club a very important part of the school.
