Wilsonville girls soccer heads to second round
The girls soccer team showed why they were the number 1 seed heading into the tournament.

Heading into the playoffs, the WVHS girls soccer team was the favorite. They showed why that was the case in the first round matchup against Willamette.
The girls started the playoffs on a great note, beating the Willamette Wolverines by a score of 8-0. Wilsonville started strong by putting 3 goals in the back of the net in the first 12 minutes all by Lindsey Antonson. The Wilsonville striker is just a few goals away from the all time Oregon goal record after adding another one in the second half. The Wilsonville defense should not go unnoticed, shutting out the Willamette offense and not giving the Wolverines many opportunities at all.
Going into halftime with Wilsonville leading 3-0 the game would be decided by who made better second half adjustments. Just like the first half, the girls came out of the gate and immediately put 3 more goals on the Wolverines in the first 12 minutes. With that streak of scoring, Willamette fell apart on the defensive side that had been able to keep the potent Wilsonville offense at bay for most of the first half.
Wilsonville heaped on a couple more to finish out the 8-0 rout as they move on to the second round and will take on Rex Putnam. The Kingsmen came into the playoffs as the 9th seed and beat Ridgeview by a score of 2-0 in their first round matchup. Wilsonville and Putnam will square off on Saturday the 6th at Wilsonville High School for a chance to move on to the semi-finals. This Wilsonville team is dominant on both sides of the ball and looks to keep that success going on their way to a state title.
