The Varsity Wrestling team from last season. Posing with the future of Wilsonville Wrestling.

The winter sports season has begun which means Wrestling season is underway. They have already competed in one tournament and are looking to pursue an NWOC title. There are some injuries currently that have hampered performance, but looking ahead, there’s a lot to be excited about. Led by Seniors Marshall Rodenbeck, Hannah Gilas, and Zack Sotherland, Junior Kadin Kramer, and Sophomore Cooper Adams, along with lots of very solid other talent, they are looking to come out of a very competitive NWOC.

It will not be easy however, as there are a lot of very solid teams across 5A. They will face off against wrestling powerhouses in Scappoose, Newburg, Thurston, and Barlow just to name a few. The team is fortunate to be competing in some big tournaments such as the Bob Beisell, Sherwood, and Liberty Invitationals. They will also play host to one of the biggest tournaments of the year, the Colton Holly Invitational. All these tournaments will lead into the final district meet in February involving all the members of the NWOC in order to determine a champion. Should they come out of the NWOC as champions, they will get an automatic bid into the state championships which the date and time are still TBD.

This should be an exciting year for the boys and girls wrestling team as they are led by both older and younger leaders.
