During winter break, our Wildcat teams went at it in their respective sports. Here’s this weeks recap:

The boys basketball team, ranked first in the state, has been dominant, starting the season at 10-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of a top-5 6A team: West Salem. They took down national powerhouse Rancho Christian in the Capitol City Classic, the number 3 ranked in 6A Roosevelt, and swept their way through the Clark Cochrane Classic in Alaska. Entering league play, there is high optimism for the team that shows no signs of slowing down.

The girls basketball team, despite starting slow, have picked up recently with some quality wins. They took down Tigard, Skyview, and Churchill. A challenge awaits them on Friday 1/7 as they play host to one of the best teams in 6A, Jesuit. This will be a good test for the number 9 ranked Cats.

The wrestling team competed in the Liberty Tournament over the winter break along with some tough opponents such as Banks, Hood River Valley, Pendleton, and Thurston. But this isn’t the first time this year that they have been in a tournament with other tough teams. They opened the year with the Tyrone Woods Invitational against wrestling powerhouses such as Barlow, Silverton, and Sprague.
