The Cats square off against Putnam during the pink-out game.

Wilsonville faced off against Rex Putnam Friday, It was the Wilsonville breast cancer awareness game. The cats were dressed in pink and so were the Wilsonville student section. It was a sea of pink in Randall stadium for the Friday night KGW game of the week. The Kingsmen, with a record of two wins and two loses, were looking to come crash the Wildcat’s pink out but that’s not how the game panned out. Wilsonville come out on fire, dropping 41 unanswered points, the Cat D locked in and stopped Putnam from getting on the scoreboard in the first half. In the first half the run game for the Cats had a lot of success, the offensive line lead by Fernando Salazar left huge holes for Cooper Mootz to run in. With the run success left the field open for Nate Overholt to pass in, Nate had 80 pass yards and has a Quarterback rating of 141.7. Running back Cooper Mootz also got in on the passing run throwing a 47 yard bomb to Tight End Draco Bynum.

In the 2nd half of the game the Wildcats 2nd units got to come out and make some plays. The fan support throughout the game was crazy. The impact the fans have on the players is bigger than most think, hearing the fans have your back no matter what happens or who’s in is awesome. The sea of pink showed out well packing Randall stadium and making as much noise as possible. There was a real meaning to the pink out, it was to raise awareness about breast cancer and the cats did their part. Some things are a lot bigger than football and this was one of those things. The Cats got a big win and raised awareness while doing it. Wilsonvilles focus turns to the Sandy Pioneers as the look  on to homecoming weekend. This is the game Wilsonville had circled all season, Sandy and Wilsonville are two of the top teams in 5A and both are on the journey to get a ring. Homecoming weekend, biggest game of the year, playoff seeding on the line, does it get any better than this?
