Girls and boys basketball both beat Milwaukie

Wilsonville dominates both games of a doubleheader and shows continued success in the conference.

Maxim Wu plays fantastic defense in a 65-36 Wilsonville victory.

Different from most double headers Thursdays slate had both the varsity girls and guys, usually it would be a JV game then a varsity. On this unusual Thursday night Wilsonville won both of it’s matchups against the visiting Milwaukie Mustangs.

The girls took the first W of the night, beating Milwaukie 47 t0 44. Up by 11 going into the fourth quarter the girls looked like they would cruise to yet another easy inner-conference win.

Then Cali Denson showed up. Denson dropped a total of 25 and led a thrilling 4th quarter comeback that fell just short at the hands of Karina Borgen who had 11 points. Not to leave out multiple other contributors for Wilsonville Audrey Counts had 9 points, Grace Gatto had 8, and Peyton Ratcliffe had 7.

It was another big win for Wilsonville as league play continues for Wilsonville who still sit atop the conference with an 8-0 league record. Wilsonville continues league play on Tuesday the 8th at 5:30 against Scappoose, with hopes to keep the perfect league record intact.

The night continued with the Wilsonville boys crushing the Mustangs 65-36. Maxim Wu came out the gates scorching for the Wildcats scoring 13 points in the first quarter alone. With Wu coming out hot, Wilsonville cruised to a ten point first quarter lead and never looked back.

Wu finished the night as the highest scorer for Wilsonville with 19 and just behind him Kallen Gutridge had 14. Meanwhile Logan Thebiay had multiple thunderous dunks and dominated downlow while also piling up 13 points. Enzo Chimienti had 11 of his own and led Wilsonville well on both sides of the court.

The boys next matchup also occurs on Tuesday the 8th against Scappoose, however they will be at 7:00 after the girls game.
