After going 10-1 in the league last season, Wilsonville Softball is looking to make a run to the State Championship. With mostly the same team, only losing one senior, these Wildcats are working every day to achieve their goal of getting a ring and bringing home a state championship to Wilsonville High School. This Wilsonville team is full of talent and won their league in 2021 after not winning dating back until 2001.

Wilsonville has already received attention and predictions for this upcoming season. The Wildcats have been predicted to win NWOC as well as compete in the State Championship via EliteOregonGirls. On the mound, University of Michigan commit Maddie Erickson received Pitcher of the Year for the 2021 season and is looking to dominate again this year offensively and defensively.

Sophomore Grace Wilson shared her thoughts about the upcoming season. “I am excited about our upcoming season and to play with this team again.” Sophomore Talia Valdez agreed with Wilson adding “I’m excited because our team should be really good after only losing one senior. We got to build great team chemistry last season and I’m excited to have that again this year.”

Wilson and Valdez also shared the common goals within the team. “Everybody is on the same page that we are going to go to state this year. We had a chance last year but due to COVID-19, we didn’t get that opportunity” stated Valdez. “We want to win state and put up another League Champion on the banner in the gym. We want to play together as a team and continue building our great team chemistry,” stated Wilson.

The Wildcats compete next week on Monday, March 14th, in a jamboree at home v.s Oregon City and North Salem, Wednesday, March 16th against Westview, and Friday, March 18th against Hood River.
