Wilsonville Wrestlers watch their teammate’s match during their dual meet against Scappoose. This meet would prepare them as districts come around the corner.

As the state wrestling tournament comes to an end, so does Wilsonville Wrestling’s 2021/22 wrestling season. “I think the team was a great group that worked well with each other and developed well as a team,” Jason Milham, one of the main coaches for the team states. “ Team culture was very solid and wrestlers helped each other to grow both as teammates and as wrestlers.” At state, 2 of our wrestlers placed, with Marshall Rodenbeck, Senior, placing 2nd and Zach Sutherland, also Senior, placing 5th. Overall, Wilsonville placed 14th out of, making the top half.

“To me, the season for the team went pretty well,” Kaden Kramer, a junior wrestler and state placer for this year’s wrestlers, says. “We started off with a lot of newer wrestlers and had a rough start. But as they grew and improved, the team improved as well.” After the 2020/21 season, the team had only lost 4 seniors, and quickly gained new wrestlers as the season began in November.

Now that the season has ended, many wrestlers have started working out with clubs and such to prepare for next season. We can’t wait to see the growth of the team and what awaits us as the years go by!
