Wilsonville football lines up for the National Anthem. The Wildcats will play their first home game on Friday, September 9th V.S Westview.

As the 2022-2023 school year begins, so do fall sports! Football, soccer, volleyball, and cross country began practices earlier this month and are all competing in pre-season games and jamborees.

With five seniors, Wilsonville volleyball had a dominant start, beating St. Mary’s Academy 3-2 and Ridgeview 3-0 in a double duel on Saturday, August 27th.

Cross country got things started on Friday, August 26th with the Night Meet 2022 that started at 6:00 PM and ended at 10:00 PM! This meet included Wilsonville, Aloha, Beaverton, West Salem, Barlow, Franklin, Liberty, McNary, Nelson, Newberg, Veritas, and Silverton.

Girls soccer will start their season on the road with an away game at Caldera at 4 PM on Tuesday, August 30th. Boys soccer will also start their season facing Caldera at home on August 30th!

Football competed in the jamboree including Sprague, Mountainside, and Glencoe. With a tough season schedule, Wilsonville viewed this as getting a “feel for the speed of the game for our new guys, and a refresher heading into the season for returners.” said junior Kallen Gutridge.

“As a group we are focused on executing against tough opponents. Great execution requires all 11 guys on the field to be in great shape so that is a focus as well.” said Gutridge. Junior Gedde McKnight agreed, adding “we just need to work on bringing our whole game together and perfecting the big things as well as the small details.”

As the fall sports season begins, all of our Wildcat athletes are hoping to start the year strong!
