Lindsay Demaray: Language arts teacher

Meeting the queen of England, teaching at Oxford University, and climbing the Big Ben clock tower are some of the amazing things that have happened to people who have lived in England. However, none of these things happened to Ms. Demaray during her two year adventure in London. Although London was an amazing experience, Ms. Demaray is excited to be back at Wilsonville High School.

Ms. Demaray is teaching ninth grade language arts. Teaching ninth graders is something she enjoys because she likes helping kids through the transition from middle school to high school. She understands that the transition can be jarring, and strives to make sure they have all the resources they need to succeed.

Her goal this year is to make choice reading books an enjoyable and consistent part of her class. When asked if she thought choice reading was beneficial to students learning she said, “I think especially for reluctant learners or reluctant readers figuring out for themselves that they can be competent and confident readers with what they do choose, makes them more willing to take a risks in reading something that their that they might find difficult or challenging or think they might not like”. She is passionate about learning and reading which makes her a great addition to Wilsonville High School.
