This past week on Monday, January 9, our Wilsonville Girls basketball team faced off against the Milwaukie Mustangs. After coming off a nice 72-55 win against Rex Putnam High School, the girls are feeling ready to take the lady Mustangs on.

As of right now, the Girls basketball team is undefeated in league and are sitting at the top. So in order to maintain that, they had to come out strong against the mustangs. One of the players on the team, Sophomore Reese Holsey shared, “I think the team did pretty good Monday but it took us awhile into the game to start playing like ourselves.” At half time the wildcats were only up by 3 points. Junior Grace Wilson also expressed how “we didn’t play to our best selves in the first half but we talked at half time and came back in the 3rd quarter.”

Once the 3rd quarter began, the girls worked together in order to dominate the game. Reese Holsey stated how they “got about 6 steals in a row going into third quarter and Mil couldn’t get over half court.” After going from only being up by three in the first half to winning the 3rd quarter by 32-2 is very impressing. The final score of the game was 71-32. Some of the teams goals for the rest of the 2022-2023 season shared by Holsey were to “grow as a team, to hold each other accountable, to continue playing our best, and to keep pushing each other at all times.”

The Wilsonville Girls basketball team will next travel to Hood River Valley High School on January 12. We want to wish the girls basketball program the best of luck as they continue on with their season and road to playoffs. Make sure to go and show your support for the Wilsonville Wildcats girl basketball team!
