Tonight the Milwaukie Mustangs hosted the Wilsonville Wildcats in a mid- season league matchup. The last time these two teams faced off, Wilsonville ran away with a commanding victory of 63-50. Tonight looked like a lot of the same with Wilsonville once again running away with the win 56-39, but not without a little fight from Milwaukie early on. The Mustangs battled all throughout the first half and only trailed 25-20 at halftime, led by #15 India Gultry, who had 7 of the mustangs 20. In the second half, Wilsonville really picked it up defensively and held India to 2 points the entire second half. When asked what adjustments the Wildcats made defensively at half time on India, Reese Timm of Wilsonville responded, “We knew from the beginning that she was an all around solid player, so we knew we had to get more ball pressure on her and keep her from catching the ball”. The Wildcats are now 15-3 and second in league, while the Mustangs drop to 9-9 and hold down fourth place in the league. Wilsonville will host Hillsboro this Friday for another big league match up as Hillsboro is 9-9 and 3rd in the league.
