On February 2nd. House Republicans released a memo that numerous GOP members called “worse than Watergate”. The document was meant to draw attention to the fact that FBI warrants on Carter Page, a former Trump advisor. The warrants put out for Page used information from Christopher Steele, who produced the now infamous Steele Dossier.

It was not disclosed, however, that the dossier was funded by an opposition research firm funded by democrats. The memo also alleges that Steele did not like Trump, and therefore may have put his personal bias into the document. According to the Rolling Stone, the document, in boldface, says that Steele told and FBI agent that “was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president.”

The overall underwhelming document presses on to assert that Steele was paid  $160,000 by the DNC and the Clinton campaign.

The Department of Justice published a letter to Congress, calling the release for information without review “reckless”. Sensitive material theoretically could have been exposed.

The document seemed to be somewhat underwhelming, as not much new information was released. Overall, the Nunes Memo seemed to be a source of turmoil in Washington.

The Democrats released a memo in response, again calling the memo “dangerous”.
