The Wilsonville Wildcats are the hottest team in 5A, in fact this team might be the hottest team in the state of Oregon. Wilsonville now has 9 straight wins and most importantly 7 of those wins have come against league opponents.

Luke Haener took the mound again for Wilsonville who came into the matchup looking for their 9th straight victory, while La Salle looked to be above .500 for the first time since the first week of April. La Salle was desperate for a victory in this one struggling especially in league play going a measly 2-4 heading into the matchup.

This one was a pitches dual from the opening pitch as Luke Haener mowed through the La Salle order only allowing three base runners and notching seven strikeouts. Haener also extended his scoreless innings streak to 21 straight innings without a run.

Haener said this after the game about his pitching performance “It felt great knowing I had a great defense backing me up, I trust my team mates to make plays and that’s what they did yesterday.”

His counterpart Sawyer Chalmers also did his part only allowing two runs over 6 innings, before handing the ball over to Torsten Hersom. Wilsonville had quality at-bats up and down the lineup but the 3 and 4 hole hitters for Wilsonville sunk the ship with La Salle’s hopes in it.

Justin Schramm and Jacob Ogden carried the Wilsonville offense with Schramm going 2 for 3 with a single and double and scoring both of Wilsonville’s runs, while Ogden went 2 for 3 with a double and triple and brought Schramm home both times.

Schramm commented on how the offense continues to improve “Our offense will keep improving as we move forward all the work we put in will keep showing up.”

Wilsonville gets it’s 9th consecutive win off the back of Luke Haener and more importantly improve to 7-0 in league play, Haener talked about how important it is to beat their inner league rival “It felt really good another really good team to go out and compete against.”

Wilsonville and La Salle will next play on Wednesday the 26th and the third match of the series will take place on Friday as both of these teams battle for tops spots in the NWOC.
