Seniors line up on the football field in preparation to take their senior photo. That photo will be used in the school yearbook.

As the end of the year approaches, seniors are getting increasingly anxious to graduate. With the last chapter of high school coming to a close, there are a few things seniors need to take care of before they walk the stage and receive their diplomas.

May 1st is a significant date for those who plan to enroll in college, it’s decision day! By May 1st, all students nationwide who plan on attending college will decide and most likely announce where they will be spending the next four years of re at WVHS, the college and career center are celebrating all decisions in the pointe at lunch.

There will be prizes, snacks, and photo opportunities. Mrs. Tucker explains, “I encourage everyone to wear what it is that reflects what they are going to do for life after high school!” Staff around the school will also be repping their alma mater’s merch. So, come and join Mrs. Tucker and the WVHS staff to celebrate this momentous occasion for all graduating seniors!

June 8th is the official day when seniors will say their final goodbyes to WVHS, graduation day. This year’s graduation will be held on June 8th at Rolling Hills Church. Each student must fill out the Google form sent to your email to order and request the number of grad tickets each family needs. The form needs to be filled out by THIS FRIDAY(4/28).

Before each student struts their stuff across the stage, every graduating senior must have on their cap and gown. For those students who have already ordered a cap and gown earlier this year, they will be available for pick up in the Pointe after school on June 1st.

Seniors are NOT allowed to decorate their caps for the ceremony. If you do desire to decorate your cap for a party or for fun, Mrs.Tucker is happy to give you an extra to decorate. Students in the past have also decorated a piece of cardboard and taped it onto the grad cap after the ceremony.

While the graduation ceremony will be long, it will be worth the wait. Excited students will rush to take pictures directly after the ceremony ends with their family members, favorite teachers, and friends. To finish off a jam-packed senior season, parents from the graduating class put together a fun-filled all-night party. While the location and activities of the party are a mystery for now, the graduating class of 2022’s party was held at Bay Club. Scholarships are available to students, as it is encouraged that every student attends.

If you are unsure of attending grad night, Mrs. Tucker mentioned, “I have never heard a student wish they hadn’t attended Grad Night. Everyone has fun! They give out prizes and have good food.”

While the upcoming month is filled with many activities and things to do, there is so much for the seniors to look forward to. This is the homestretch for high school seniors! Keep up the hard work and finish strong.
