This past week, Wilsonville Girls Lacrosse was able to end their last home game with a win, and honor their five incredible seniors. The team hosted Oregon City, and ended their senior night on top, dominating the Pioneers with a score of 16-4.

The team has a total of five seniors which include, captain Grace Jensen, captain Fiona Dunn, captain Tatum Hagen, Alexis Mcilmoil, and Devyn Ratter. All five of these seniors have very bright futures ahead of them. Devyn Ratter shared her favorite memory from her senior season. “We played a game on the same day as our prom, and our team played amazing. I ended up scoring three goals and it was just a great feeling overall.”

Another senior, who has been on the team all four years of her high school career, is captain Grace Jensen. Grace shared that her favorite part about playing Wilsonville lacrosse was, “being able to make loads of new friends. It was fun being able to make friends outside of the classroom, and I think that a sports team can create a really unique bond between players and create lasting friendships.”

The senior celebration started as early as getting ready in the locker room. Underclassmen were in charge of decorating, and planning the entire night. The team met in the locker room, and began the night. Soon after the team headed out to the field for warmups, and thirty minutes before gametime, the seniors were able to celebrate and walk on the field with their families.

By gametime, the Cats brought the heat. Playing an incredible game, and really becoming a unit on the field, they were able to finish their night with a 16-4 dub. Jensen shares, “I will really miss the feeling of winning. There is something special about giving your all in a game and winning at the end. I love celebrating with my teammates and I think games like the one we played on senior night really brings us together.”

That is a wrap for regular season play for Wilsonville Girls Lacrosse. Playoffs will soon start, where they will face off against OES in the first round. Congratulations to the seniors of Wilsonville Girls Lacrosse!
