Girls softball plays under lucky rainbow. But the rainbow wasn’t enough to capture the win.

The Wilsonville Wildcats softball team took on a powerful Hood River Valley team last Friday at home. The Eagles of Hood River started out hot, driving in six runs over the course of 4 innings. This is when things got interesting. The Wildcats, who had started out slow, blasted off and scored four runs in a row to overcome the eagles going into the 5th inning. A hard hit line drive to the left field gap by junior Carly Atwood gave the Wildcats the momentum they needed to make a run.  7-6 read the scoreboard as Kailey Krueger took the mound in the top of the 5th inning. If the Cats wanted to win this game, they would have to hold the Eagles from scoring. There was struggles on the defensive end that led to the downfall of the Wildcats. A hitting spree in the last 3 innings spurred a 5-0 run by the eagles. The Cats could not retaliate and claw back from the 7-11 deficit going into the final inning of the game. The Eagles had brought in their closer to seal the deal and it proved well because the final play was made and the game ended, Wilsonville 7, Hood River 11.  The Cats look to redeem themselves against Madison High this wednesday the 21st.
