After the launch of Common App on August first, many seniors have struggled with college applications and where they want to go. Many seniors have already started touring colleges, trying to find where they could see themselves in the near future.

Meredith Krecklow has been to an abundance of different colleges over the past couple of months. She took tours of Willamette University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Washington, and Seattle University.

Meredith’s favorite part of touring these colleges was seeing the University of Washington campus. She explained that “I liked U-Dub the best because it was a big campus, and it just had a lot of programs that interested me.”

Meredith also exclaimed that the University of Washington had a lot of good classes for her intended major and that she loved the location of the campus.

Sophie Gordon has also started looking around and taking tours of different colleges. She has been to Boston College, Boston University, Columbia, Parsons Art School, Santa Cruz, and UC Berkeley.

Gordon is originally from the East Coast area, so she loves and knows the New York area and other surrounding cities.

Gordon’s favorite part of her college tour experience has been getting to see Boston College. She loves the collegiate feel of the campus and loves that she can take a train there. Gordon explains that she likes taking the train because it’s familiar to her and it gives her a sense of freedom and independence.

Sophie announces, “I really want a college that is close to the city and nature and just a place where I can really explore and have some independence.” Gordon wants the big green fields, a good library, and an overall happy environment when deciding where to go to college.

It can be both exciting and nerve-racking to think about what college to go to, and with early applications opening up soon, seniors are already starting to take tours of the different colleges.
