Soul’d Out takes the stage at Lincoln Center

Wilsonville’s award winning a capella group brought their amazing sound to the Big Apple.

On April 20, 2018 Wilsonville High School’s a cappella group, Soul’d Out performed at the ICHSA finals at Lincoln Center in New York City. The competition included nine groups from across the country who all won their semifinal back in January. Soul’d Out performed their set last out of those groups and did not place, but felt very proud of themselves regardless. Their set consisted of three songs: Amnesia with soloist Madi Wilde, Brother featuring soloist Kalonni Smith, and There’s Nothing Holding Me Back with Michael Dart as soloist. As the time to perform drew closer, Soul’d Out rehearsed their set and said some final encouraging words to each other. As they stepped out onto the stage, the audience cheered for them and their first song began shortly afterwards. All songs went on without a hitch, and the group took one last triumphant bow at the end, proud of their success.

Before the awards and placements were announced, all groups and three guest soloists  gathered on the stage to sing This Is Me. As the awards and placements were announced, Soul’d Out stood together, embracing and holding hands, listening intently. Yet even as other groups were announced as top three, they were still very happy to have made it so far and have had the opportunity to spend time with each other and other groups.
