MacKenzie Welberg and Kacy Shrock fight for the draw against OES

On Thursday, May 3rd, Wilsonville High Schools Girls Lacrosse Team set off against one of Oregon’s finest lacrosse programs; OES.  Despite Wilsonville having the home field advantage, OES has always been a force to be recon with. With great leadership on the field from senior captains, Kacy Shrock, Alexa Erickson and Mackenzie Welberg they knew that they were going to have to play to the best of their abilities.  Going into the game with a competitive mentality, the Wildcats popped off and scored five goals within the first two quarters. With the Aardvarks down 5-0 they scored two unanswered goals back to back at the end on the first half. The Wildcats feeling the pressure, tried to recollect themselves before the second half started.  But with OES feeling strong and all the momentum in their favor, they continued closing in on the Cats lead by scoring one goal in the third quarter and two more goals in the last three minutes to tie up the game. As the clock ran out, the Wildcats knew going into sudden death that they would have to secure the draw and shoot wisely.  Sudden death works like this: you have 2 minutes to score and the first team to do so wins the game. Wilsonville dotted their I’s, crossed their T’s and took the one smart shot they needed to win the game.
