As the first few weeks of school get under way, the staff holds a Back to School Night every year for parents of students at Wilsonville High School. This allows parents to meet their children’s teachers and see what the class will look like. This year’s Back to School Night was held on Wednesday, September 12.

Although it may seem like a simple task to put on this event, hours of planning takes place beforehand in order for Back to School Night to succeed. To aid in this event, the staff asks the Link Crew leaders to help direct confused parents make their way around the school. Each Link Crew Leader was assigned a porch, in which they would stay and work on their Calculus or Physics as they would wait for parents to arrive.

Back  to School Night allows for parents to meet all six of their children’s teachers by treating the hour and a half event as a short school day. Parents would make their way to their children’s classes in the order that the child would have them on a normal school day. In these classes, the teachers would give a short presentation, after which the parents could ask any questions about the class that they may have had.

Events such as Back to School Night allow parents to be more connected with their children’s education. It also allows teachers to be connected with the parents. Hopefully, Back to School Night is a tradition at Wilsonville High School that will be continued for years to come!
