This past Wednesday, September 19th the boys soccer team traveled to Crescent Valley and stole a close win from the Raiders. The Wildcats won 2-1 with goals coming from Ryan McCord and Sam Blohn.  Ryan’s goal was the first of his high school career. On his goal, Ryan said “It was bouncing around in the box, and I just connected with the half-volley.”

McCord said that in the first half they did not play up to their full potential. However, in the second half, the starters stepped up and led the team to the win.   Ryan believes that the team has capability to play even better.

This game was originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday, but the soccer field at Crescent Valley High School was deemed unplayable and the game was moved to Wednesday. Moving the game to Wednesday proved problematic according to Ryan McCord because the boys soccer team also had a game on Thursday. Ryan said the back to back was difficult because they returned home very late Wednesday night. In fact, Ryan even said the short break between games caused cramping and injuries not only to himself but to other members of the team as well.

Yet, the team was able to get a win to build off Wednesday night with Ryan saying, “It is a momentum builder.” Finally, Ryan expressed that this convincing win versus Crescent Valley has the whole team excited for the rest of the season to come.
