Sam Blohn controls the ball in a home game against Forest Grove

This past Tuesday the boys soccer team, despite their tremendous effort, fell short of defeating top 6A team Forest Grove. When talking to varsity defender Sam Blohn, he said that the team played quite well even though FG is one of the best 6A teams in the state, and our team is still continuing to figure out lineups and positions. Blohn explained, “For still figuring things out it was a really good performance.”

Other than the outcome, lots of things went well for the team. For example, Sam said, “We played really good defense for the most part” with goalkeeper Zach Brehm stepping up. In addition, Sam said Ryan McCord and other players stepped into their new roles well and demonstrated that they are a team to be reckoned with.

Throughout the preseason, the boys soccer team has faced countless talented 6A teams which is preparing them for NWOC play. In addition, Blohn said that playing the better competition is getting them better prepared for difficult 5A opponents such as La Salle and Hillsboro.

Blohn also said that this close defeat versus FG has inspired the team, and  since the game the team has been playing with a vengeance and passion. The rest of the NWOC better watch out because Blohn and the rest of the team are coming ready to win.
