We have been talking about Russia this past a month. Today I want to write about the music myth itself.

Balalaika

Balalaika is another popular fable about Russia. You must imagine that, first, it’s our main instrument and, secondly, almost every Russian plays it. However, balalaika is not really popular nowadays, it was used by our ancestors. Russian culture contains a lot of well-known musicians, such as Borodin, Musorgskiy, Chaikovskiy, Glinka and many many more. I’m sure, most of you have also heard of Russian piano composer Sergey Rachmaninov. We also have perfect modern singers who are known all over the world. Many of them took part in Eurovision. Maybe, you remember Polina Gagarina and Sergey Lazarev.

Russians love listening music. Besides our singers, we also listen American and Europe celebrities. They are so popular in Russia. We do it everywhere: in home, school, office and transport. Maybe we don’t show a lot of emotions when do it, but there is a reason for this. Russians believe that emotions should be shown to relatives and friends, it is not worth spending them on strangers.
