Wildcats take on Scappoose Indians in wet and muddy classic
The Cats rolled over the Indians, 41-20
Senior Caleb Baker and Kalei Kauhi gang up to stuff Scappoose behind the line of scrimmage. On 3rd on long, the Indians were forced to punt after the tackle for a loss.
The Wilsonville Wildcats traveled to Scappoose to take on the Indians in a wet and muddy classic. The Cats wore their white tops and by the end of the game those tops were brown — the Indians’ field is a grass field and was it showering all game long. But the Cats didn’t use the rain as an excuse. Roll Ville has rolled to 6-0 with a 41-20 win over the Indians.
The Indians came out fast striking first blood and then some. After 3 minutes it was 13-0 Indians and the Cats were shooting themseves in the foot with 7 penalties in that span. When adversity hit, the Cats kept their composure and kept playing their game. When the Cats are on their A game no one can slow them down. They adjusted to the wet and muddy field and put the score behind them and kept fighting.
The Wildcats score 21 unanswered points going into half up 21-13. By that time Nate Overholt and the Cat offense were clicking and adapted to the wet conditions. In the 3rd quarter they erupted for 20 points. Senior Trevor Antonson came down with two interceptions one in which he took to the crib for six.
Scappoose came into the game rushing for over 350+ yards per game lead by Senior Connor McNabb who leads in the state rush yards. The Wildcat defense held the Indians to only 130 yards rushing and star back McNabb to 16 yards on the ground. The Wildcats next test will come next week against the St Helens Lions on Thursday night under the lights, their 2nd to last home game.
