Boys basketball crushes St. Helens 83-31

On Tuesday, January 8th, the boys basketball team defeated the St. Helens by a whopping 52 point margin with the final score being 83-31. The game was the first game of the season for the ‘Cats in Northwest Oregon Conference(NWOC) play.

A lot of the success was brought about by Junior wing Dakota Reber who had three dunks and was very active on the defensive end. Junior wing Andrew Classen said that the team was so successful vs St. Helens because “… we moved the ball well, forced a lot of turnovers, and had a lot of fastbreak points.”

The Cats ended up having over twenty steals in the game which led to a lot of fast break buckets. Senior guard/wing Zach Rivers led the steal column with an amazing total of eight steals.

According to Classen, this win and good start to conference play will help the team perform better throughout the rest of league play. In addition, he said that the game showed how well they can play if they continue to play together.

Next up for the Wildcats will be a home game vs the La Salle Prep Falcons.
