Wilsonville Girls Tennis had their first match this Wednesday, March 13th. The original date for the match was supposed to the 12th, which was Tuesday, but due to the rain, it was canceled.
Both the JV and Varsity teams played Sprague, with the varsity playing at the high school and the JV playing at Memorial Park. The weather was nice, and many players were able to tolerate wear tank tops and skirts.
This was the first 2018-2019 match for Kirk Fowler, who became the new head coach this year. He has coached in the past, but this was his first match since coming back.
Junior Meghann Yochim played doubles with Maddie Giese on Wednesday. She said that “I loved playing in a tennis match again. I was so excited to play with Maddie again, and I think we did well for our first match back!”
Junior Sydney Byun also played doubles with her partner Anna Sweetland, a senior, and she said that “The weather turned out so nice, and it was really fun to hang out with all of my friends again.”
We hope that the girls do well in their future matches, and we hope that the weather doesn’t delay any more of their matches!
