Good places to hike near Wilsonville
Abiqua Falls
Hiking has become a trend at Wilsonville High School.
Oregon is one of the best places to hike in the United States. Oregon has plenty of different ranges of nature from the coast, to the mountains, and to the beautiful green forests. Here is my list of the Top 5 places to hike around Wilsonville.
5. Lower Macleay Park to Pittock Mansion-
This is the most convenient hike on the list. This hike is located in Portland but it makes you forget that quickly once you start the hike. The hike is 5 miles out and back. However, the hike leads to Pittock Mansion which contains a beautiful view over Portland.
4. Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain Trail-
This is a hike near Manzanita on the coast. The hike is 2.5 miles to the top and 2.5 miles back down. The hike brings you to the top of the mountain with a spectacular view of the beach and ocean below. The view will leave you wanting to stay there for a long time before heading back down.
3.Coyote Wall-
Coyote Wall is the only hike that is not in Oregon. It is located on the Washington side of the gorge directly across from Mozier. Coyote Wall offers views of Mt.Hood, the Columbia River, and a rough mountainside terrain. The hike is also fairly easy and there is an option for mountain biking if that interests you.
2.Abiqua Falls-
Abiqua Falls is the shortest hike of all of these but it offers my favorite view. — Sam Blohn
Abiqua falls is a short travel north of Silver Creek Falls. It is located through a logging camp and down a sketchy road. The hike starts of with the choice of going left or right. The right side leads to a cliff where you have to slowly move down the cliff with a rope. The left leads to a much easier path down. Then the falls is a short hike up the river in a gorge. Then suddenly it opens up to reveal a circular gorge with columns that remind me of those in Iceland. The waterfall is truly breathtaking and beautiful.
1.Memaloose and Clackamas Falls-
Memaloose and Clackamas falls is located near Estacada. It is very easy to miss the trail head as it is not pointed out very clearly. On the trail there are many steep hills that can only be scaled safely using climbing ropes left there by former climbers. There is water that runs through the valley as you walk along. Eventually you will get too two logs tied together crossing a ft 40 drop. This is a little sketchy but once you get over it you get to walk through one of the three caves on this hike. You can see bats in these caves and at the end is a magnificent waterfall which the trail leads you to the top of.
