Wilsonville high school receives prestigious OSAA Cup

On Friday, September 20th, during the assembly, the assistant director of OSAA announced the winner of the OSAA Cup. The new principal of Wilsonville High School Ms. Schmidt accepted the award on behalf of the school.

The OSAA Cup is a way to recognize overall excellence by schools in academics, activities and athletics. Schools earn points based on their participation and finish in OSAA State Championships. All Wilsonville teams did very well last year especially boys basketball who got first, football who got second, and girls basketball who got third.

In addition, schools get points for top 10 finishes in the OnPoint Community Credit Union Academic All-State. Also, there is a sportsmanship component to the cup. Schools are awarded points each season for having no ejections.

Throughout the year, Wilsonville racked up 3662.5 points which was over 600 more than the nearest team in 5A. For having the most points in 5A, WVHS won a commemorative trophy from the OSAA.
