This year, 2019, is wrapping up. November is creeping up on us with December following. The November school calendar is known for having fewer academic days than other months. This is why we sometimes refer to November as “No school November.” Of the 21 potential school days in November, students at WHS are only scheduled to attend 15 days due to holiday breaks, staff development days, and non-contract days for staff. November 11th is veteran’s day, followed by a week-long “Thanksgiving break”. Due fewer academic school hours in November, teachers can feel pressured to stay on track and teach all their students the required criteria. Here are some teacher opinions on No School November.

Mark Sunquist, who is a history/leadership teacher at WHS, stated that No school November doesn’t bother him much at all. “With November having fewer school days doesn’t bother me at all. I always make sure to finish the unit Im teacher before break starts. Which sometimes can be a struggle, but I’ve always somehow made it work.” He also mentioned that he likes “No School November” because he gets a from work and enjoy quality time with his family.

John Fitzgerald, who is a English teacher at WHS, stated that he doesn’t mind no school November. “No school November is not much of a problem to me, but “No Shave November” should not be a thing. ” As well as he mentioned that since the school district decided to do a whole week off for family vacations, students still decided to cut in the week before break to go on a longer vacation. Overall, “No School November” doesn’t have a big impact on Fitzgerald and his teaching.

Here are just two teachers opinions on, “No School November.” Thanksgiving is going to be here in a little over a month. So remember to stay on track with all your assignments so you don’t fall behind!
