Wilsonville High School choir, band and orchestra have started a new tradition.

Over the weekend they traveled all the way to Twin Rocks Friends Camp for the weekend. They left nice and early on Friday morning and made a pit stop at the Tillamook cheese factory! They were able to take a tour of the factory, watch cheese be made, get ice cream or food and the most important part, get cheese samples.

They were in rehearsal for about 8+ hours between the two day retreat. They worked on the holiday set for the upcoming concert along with sight reading their state set. They had some free time when they could explore the camp, have tournaments in the rec room, and of course go to the beach! The choir also does a candle exchange and after all the candles have been exchanged the entire room is lit up and has so many mixed smells.

Mikaela Ochocki reports “Spending time getting to know more about the people we sing with all year. The candle ceremony gives us a chance to learn more about our relationships with each other and how that can affect our work as a choir.  Hearing other people talk about people they know well or don’t know at all connects us all in a special way I think.”

Retreat was a great way for the group to get to know each other and bond!
