Wilsonville High School’s Girl Up club is partnering with the organization Abby’s Closet to run a dress drive here at school! Their goal with this dress drive is to collect dresses that will be part of the Abby’s Closet Prom Dress Giveaway collection for their annual giveaway on March 14th and 15th at the Oregon Convention Center.

The hope with this dress drive is to allow girls who may not be able to afford a prom dress to receive one for free. Junior and Vice President of Girl Up, Bella Glastra van Loon, gives her take on why it is important to have the option to receive a free prom dress. “Not being able to afford a fancy prom dress may stop a girl from going to prom. And for most people, prom is an experience that many teenagers look forward to attending. Girls not being able to attend because of the high prices of dresses just shouldn’t happen.”

Bella says that posters will be placed around the school starting next week. She also says to keep your ears open for morning announcements giving more details on the dress drive and to look for announcements in the weekly newsletter.

The Abby’s Closet Dress Drive will take place in the Wilsonville High School front office during the week of February 10th through 14th. Bring any dress of any size and style and help make a teenage girls dream prom dress come true!
