Jake Smeraglio: Spanish teacher
Mr. Smeraglio along with many others is a new addition to the staff at Wilsonville High School. He will be teaching Spanish two and four this year.
Smeraglio has been teaching for 14 years. He has taught at many different schools including in Las Vegas. He has always taught Spanish, but if he could teach anything else it would be cooking classes.
As this is his first year teaching at Wilsonville, he is quite excited to have a fresh space and start. Smeraglio states, “At this point in my career I feel like I’ve kind of honed in on a few things that I do really well, but I’m still excited to learn from my colleagues.”
His inspiration for teaching is rooted in his sports career. He wanted to continue to be connected to soccer and looked to his coaches as an inspiration. He says, “They could continue working with the sport while being teachers.” Which worked well for him because he coaches JV girls soccer.
Smeraglio is so excited to be teaching at Wilsonville and is looking forward to the opportunity.
