Senior Sign-Off: Emily Barry
Being a part of WBN has felt so rewarding and has given me some of my favorite high school memories. I have enjoyed writing articles, producing and planning a podcast, and broadcasting games with my favorite co-host: Hannah Wilken.
Journalism allowed me to interact with people I never would have, write stories about topics I began the week knowing nothing about, and gave me the confidence to publish my thoughts.
The WBN community is one I will forever be grateful for. I made friends and grew as a writer and a person. Journalism gave me real-life professional experiences that I would not have gotten anywhere else.
Going into senior year I knew that I wanted to be involved more in the school community. Journalism opened hundreds of doors in order for me to do that. There is no other elective I would have rather taken.
I want to thank the incredible people who have offered me so much support. Fiona Dunn the one and only editor-in-chief, Mr. Fitz, and Taylor Hadden who was my section editor for almost the entire year. Taylor pulled ideas out of me that I didn’t know I had.
I am looking forward to spending my next four years at American University in Washington D.C. While I am majoring in Political Science, I am also hoping to continue my interest in journalism.
