Thespians take state

Allie Forsterer, Writer

On Thursday April 5th Mr. Katz and Mr. Fitzgerald took a large group of 25 students to the Oregon Thespians State Festival. This festival lasted until Sunday the 8th and was packed full of student performances, workshops, and other activities.

The group was able to place in many categories. This was the first year that the group had brought a technical design entry due to Peyton Butlers costume designs for And Then There Were None. The group took 6 performances.

The small groups of Peyton and Nate as well as Averyl and Katie were state finalised, being in the top four of their category.

Another group, Kameron and Noah placed second in their category and were able to perform their piece in front of the conference of 1300 people.

Junior Peyton Guenther was recognized as a superior one act directing sophomores Averyl Hartje and Ari Lautner in Post its.

A member of the theater department,  Mikaela Ochocki was elected a State Thespian Officer. This was an honor to the group as only 5 students in the state are elected for this state wide counsel. This is the first year that a Wilsonville student has been elected into this group and will continue to work hard on a higher level for the thespian community of Oregon.
