Sophomore Zoe Gann emphasized the importance of winning games at home this season, stating, “We are gonna have some tough games this season, but the chemistry we have built will help us through games throughout the season.”
With all the new freshmen and new faces on the field, the Wildcats use this as an advantage to fuel chemistry to set course for a long season. With players and coaches in and out for the Wildcats they have made it their goal to stay competitive.
Sophomore Jaelyn Schwein reflected on the start of the season, wanting to keep the momentum from last year, that being winning the silver cup trophy. Schwien stated, ‘’We are eager for the season, and competing starting on the right foot is very important this season winning games.” The Wildcats are prioritizing their preseason momentum through practice,s gaining chemistry, and improving their skills through offense and defense.
Schwein recognizes the requirement of leadership from freshman players to senior players: “Feeling the pressure can be intimidating at times, but becoming fluid with help from past juniors and seniors. Finding rhythm increases chemistry through leadership.”
Gann reflected on past seasons and the importance of starting the season on a high note. Gann said, “Our coaching staff has certain expectations for us to meet and succeed, and that comes from starting to see on a good note and progressing through the season through challenges.”
Offseason is very important to reflect on the previous seasons and improve through club lacrosse and training mentally and physically. Schwien reflected on preparing for the season, stating, “The offseason is important in many ways, club lacrosse is important for me to stay sharp and in shape for the season.”
The long offseason can be different for all athletes through different sports and activities, but coming back for pre-season training and getting to know your new teammates was a huge priority for Wilsonville through the coaches and players.
Setting the course through the season is the expectation this year. “A full effort!” Schwein exclaimed, with some tough games on the schedule for Wilsonville playing against rival schools and competitive and aggressive teams.
With a roster built from different grades and backgrounds, Wilsonville is eager to start the season and ready to compete for trophies and championships throughout the 2025 season together.
