“Name: Raul Sixtos. Role: Administrative Assistant. When I found out that there was a position available at Wilsonville High School, I wanted to take it so that I could get to the overall administrative side as well as the coaching department.
When I first started coaching, I was 17 years old and it was a rec team of third graders that slowly developed into coaching them for the next couple of years into high school. Since then, I had been a soccer coach for many years in Sherwood. I don’t coach at the moment because the season is up, but I do coach. I will be coaching again next year.
My passion for soccer started young since I have played it all my life. Ever since I was about two and a half, when I could start walking and running. It probably was the cornerstone of my childhood. So I’ve always loved it, always had a passion for it.
Aside from that, I would say I’m a person who is very driven by hobbies, whether that is rock climbing, soccer, or golf. I do enjoy other activities such as hiking and stuff like that. But for the most part, I would say that being somebody who’s very active and being somebody who just likes being outdoors is probably who I am.
I always try to make time, regardless of what I’m doing throughout the week, to either enjoy an activity on my own or with friends and family.
Like, I just went horseback riding actually a week ago. So that was pretty fun. That was something new, something different, and I thought it would be cool to learn it.
That was in Long Beach, Washington. We went over the weekend and it was a lot of fun. But I would definitely go again just so I could see if I could maybe master the art of horseback riding and then maybe do a little more with it.
Above hobbies, the most important thing to me would be a family unity and family values as far as making sure that you always hold the utmost respect for those around you, your loved ones, and just making sure that you guys are always in a good place in life. I put this into practice every day by ensuring that I can be the best son, best brother, and the, potentially, the best future husband and or father.
I would say that the reason it’s most important to me is because I grew up making sure that I always make my parents proud and that I always did whatever was best, not just for me, but those around me that I truly care for.
And a piece of advice I have I think is that life experiences are probably the most important thing when it comes to what shapes you. If you never live it, you’ll never be able to express a change that should be implemented in your life and so therefore I do believe that growing up and making mistakes and going through life is the best way to go about it.”
