“Sports have impacted my life because it has taught me leadership and how to be a team player. It also allowed me to meet and become close with so many people which I consider all of those people as family now.
The person who has influenced me the most in my life would definitely be my dad. He has always been there for me and has taught me everything I know, whether it’s sports, school, or just life in general. He has always been so supportive and has taught me the importance of hard work and responsibility. Whenever I faced challenges, he encouraged me to keep going and never give up, which helped me build confidence in myself.
He also sets a strong example by how he handles problems with patience and determination, which inspires me to do the same. Whether it’s helping me with schoolwork, giving advice, or just spending time together, he always makes me feel valued and heard.
Tearing my ACL was one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever faced. At first, it felt like everything I loved, especially sports and staying active, was suddenly taken away. The pain, the surgery, and the long recovery process were both physically and mentally exhausting. There were moments when I felt frustrated and even questioned if I’d ever get back to where I was before.
But through hard work, physical therapy, and the support of my family and friends, I slowly started to rebuild my strength. Over time, I not only recovered but also learned the value of patience, perseverance, and mental toughness. Going through that experience made me stronger, both physically and mentally, and showed me that setbacks can lead to growth.
Softball has had a big impact on my daily life by teaching me discipline, teamwork, and how to handle pressure. Every day, balancing practice, school, and other responsibilities pushes me to manage my time wisely and stay focused on my goals. Being part of a team has helped me learn how to communicate better and support others. Skills are important not only during games but also in group projects and social situations. The dedication and resilience I’ve developed through softball carry over into other parts of my life, helping me face challenges with confidence and stay motivated no matter what comes my way.
My favorite memory in softball was probably in the state 10U tournament. I remember me and my team went into the tournament so excited, but we ended up losing our first game, which placed us in a bad seed. But from that loss, we didn’t let it get to us or bring us down and we kept our energy and effort high.
In order to get to the championship, we had to come back and win 8 games in a row. Believe it or not… we did! We ended up being in the championship game. Unfortunately, we placed second, but the point was that we didn’t give up from losing that first game and made it there. This memory still impacts me today because I use it as a constant reminder to not give up on something if it at first doesn’t go your way and to persevere through things.”
