If you were to ask me to predict the next big thing in the business world, I’d probably respond with a blank stare. But if you were to ask me about the next big thing in fashion, I could give you essays.
Contrary to popular belief, I believe 2026 will mark a cultural shift away from diet culture and toward the embodiment of nature. Rather than focusing on how small the waist can be, fashion will emphasize dynamic silhouettes—using shape, layering, and movement to create interest.
Building interest with your silhouette will be big in high fashion. As for everyday wear I think we’ll be leaning away from neutrals or the clean girl aesthetic and making space for organic and expressive styling.
Colors will play an essential role in this transition. Mauves, pinks, greens, and light yellows will dominate palettes, reflecting a more organic mood. As for materials and patterns, raw textures and natural fibers will be huge. Fabrics like linens, silks, and knits will become staples in your wardrobe.
However, I don’t think colors are the only thing changing but neutrals as well. Black, although for so long considered the default neutral, will be traded in for brown. Although small, this shift will significantly impact color pairings, allowing them to become warmer and more grounded.
The romanticism of artists in recent media will also heavily influence these choices. Historically, there has always been a huge overlap in media we consume to how we present ourselves. This connection is far from coincidental, each year cultural icons subtly shape fashion through their self presentation.
Emerging music artists like Olivia Dean and Matilda Mann, embody the perfect balance of chic and natural. Their looks feel effortless, yet intentional. Alongside upcoming artists, we are also seeing older music resurface.
Though lying in the past, these revivals show what trends might be recycled. Artist Erykah Badu, who basically invented neo-soul, has become popular once again on multiple social media platforms, her embodiment of the music style translates to an earthy almost bohemian style.
Accessories in 2026 will move beyond the idea of a single finishing touch and instead become essential to outfit construction. Hair accessories in particular will move into the spotlight. Multicolored hair pins, french pins, and banana clips will not only be used for convenience but personalized style choices. Using these will enhance natural hair types while also creating visual interest.
Lastly, in 2026 scarves will be used for everything. From being used for layering for belts to using them as a bag charm. Scarves are timeless, and their usage is essentially limitless. Making them an easy and convenient way to bring your outfit from an 8 to a 10.
Fashion in 2026 will move away from restriction and toward intention. Your outfits are your focal point, with all of the components working together to tell a story.
