Wilsonville girls soccer senior night topped with league championship win
Your Wilsonville Wildcats girls soccer team are league champions! A rainy night led to an eventful game for our seniors (and more) in their final league game play. The Lady Cats faced tough opponents: The Hillsboro Spartans, but came out on top once again.
A slow first half aggravated the girls lighting their fire during half time. The score was 0-0 in the first forty, but shortly after starting the second half that changed in an instant. Star freshman, Lindsey Antonson–after having some tense issues with the ref–took her anger to the ball with a beautiful shot to put the Cats up on the scoreboard. After receiving a yellow card from a tough critic in the center field she was fired up.
The Spartans put up a tough front, but that was no match for our strong defensive line with a combo of fancy footwork from our up front forwards. A ball heading for the out of bounds line was stopped in its tracks by senior Teagan McNamee crossing it over everyone’s head, for a pass to Karina Borgen. Borgen followed with a volley to fellow teammate Lindsey for a header goal! This play was gorgeously executed by girls with true skill. Securing their lead of 2-0 the Cats finish out their season with a running total of 51 goals.
Not only was it the last game of the regular season, but it was senior night in the downpour at Randall. The seniors: Sydni Ricketts, Nicole Johnson, Teagan McNamee, Grace Clarke, Jillian Greene, Alexis Leon Guerrero, Kali Connell, Riley Breshears, Lauren Dean, Karen Cardenas, and Marri Mccallum walked the field with their parents or others to commence the final game.
Catch the Cats next Wednesday at home to kick off playoffs, see you there, and go Cats!
