All the Light We Cannot See

Set during the horrors of World War II, All the Light We Cannot See follows the story of a young blind french girl, and a german boy. Both their lives change drastically as Hitler gains power. For Werner Pfennig this means becoming a german soldier and for Marie-Laure it means hiding valuable artifacts and fleeing the wrath of the Nazis. Although both kids grow up completely different their lives intertwine in many ways.

The story was unique in its main characters and their experiences which is what initially drew me in. From there, the beautiful writing and mystery kept me going. The characters were fascinating as their stories were both so contrasting and similar. For those who enjoyed The Nightingale or The Book Thief, this book is a must read.
