Beach Read
Like the title claims, this book is a perfect beach read. Two authors from polar opposite genres become neighbors for a summer. While dealing with the aftermath of her fathers death and learning about his secret affair, January Andrews challenges her cold hearted neighbor to write a novel in her genre of expertise, romance. He accepted on the terms that she wrote a book in his genre of literary fiction. While writing, both authors taught each other lessons on how to write in their genre which for January meant interviewing cult members and for Augustus meant going to a carnival to learn about “meet-cutes.”
Following along their summer adventure was both entertaining and amusing. While both characters were completely different, their relationship was adorable. Not only this but the overall group of small town characters really drew me in. Anyone who enjoys a good contemporary romance to speed through will love this book.
