Clackamas Community College is offering college credits for many classes. Teachers will tell their students if it applies to their class.

This year, many classes are offering college credits through Clackamas Community College.  Although you can already gain college credits through AP classes, some AP courses are offering credits through CCC also.

Jason Jenkins, a new teacher here at Wilsonville High School, talks about how you can earn your college credits. He explains that “You can earn college credits for AP Lang by signing up for classes through Clackamas Community College.”

The sign-up process is easy, but Ms. Tucker, the college and career counselor, will come around to some of your classes and walk you through it! She describes just how easy it is to sign up and how important it can be. Ms. Tucker highly encourages you to sign up through CCC because “there is no downside.”

Ms. Tucker talks about how if you sign up now, it’s much cheaper than it would be in college. It would be around $40 now but if you take the class in college it would be close to $1,000 for the class.

You can earn college credits not only in AP classes but in your regular classes too, including classes like Spanish III & IV, Pre-Calculus, and many more! The amount of credits you earn per class depends on which classes you take.

Ms. Tucker mentions that if you take AP Lang, you can earn 4 college credits, and if you go on to take AP Lit with Ms. Hanlon, you can earn 12 college credits.

Depending on your major and the college you attend, you could potentially graduate college early if you get enough college credits. Ms. Tucker shared a story about how her daughter, who attended the University of Oregon and by December, was a sophomore because of the number of college credits she earned during her time here at Wilsonville High School.
