Wilsonville Sports Recap 9/27

Last week in Wilsonville Sports, many teams went at it across different sports. They all played hard and represented Wilsonville well! Here’s this weeks recap: 

The boys soccer team opened the week dropping a close affair at a top team in 6A, Liberty. The schedule didn’t get any easier as they hosted a top 10 6A team, McMinnville. But they came out and showed they belong at the top as they stunned the Grizzlies 3-0. The Cats continue to be pelted by a tough schedule, but remain ranked at number 3 in the state in 5A. 

Girls soccer keeps winning. Not much else to say. They destroyed Liberty 5-0, followed by a 2-1 W over Tualatin. Now entering league play, the undefeated Cats look to continue their streak through playoffs, which they are looking very favorable in playing in. The number 1 team in 5A can’t do much wrong now. 

The volleyball team showed out in a big way. A clean 3-0 sweep vs Milwaukie led up to Wednesday night. What an atmosphere it was in that gym. The student section was electric. They hosted rival La Salle in a match that goes a long way in deciding the NWOC champion. And they beat them 3-2. Currently sitting at 7th in 5A, their ranking should move up due to a favorable upcoming schedule.

The football team’s game was cancelled due to positive Covid cases within North Salem’s roster. So they are awarded with a forfeit W. Obviously, there was frustration about them not being able to play their homecoming game. However, with the cancellation of the game, the football team was able to do something that they had never done before, participate in the homecoming festivities. The number 1 team in the state via OSAA looks to continue to stay hot this week at Forest Grove on Thursday.
