WVHS Sports Recap Week of 10/25
Last week in Wilsonville Sports, many teams went at it across different sports. They all played hard and represented Wilsonville well! Here’s this weeks recap:
The boys soccer team closed their regular season dropping their final game 5-2 to Springfield. They now enter the playoffs as the number 5 seed. A home game is on the way for the Cats against TBD on November 3rd. A very successful regular season has the Cats entering the playoffs with some much needed momentum against tough opponents within the top 5 with the likes of La Salle, Willamette, and Corvallis.
The girls soccer team dominated again. Two 8-0 wins over St Helens and Milwaukie respectively. They enter the playoffs with a big target on their backs. An undefeated regular season being one of the reasons but also due to the fact that they have been dominant all year long. At 14-0-1, they will open as the number 1 seed as a favorite to make a deep run into the playoffs as the NWOC champions.
Volleyball finished off their regular season with a 3-0 win at Milwaukie. They also enter the playoffs with a high seed, similar to the other Wildcat teams, as the number 7 team. They open the playoffs October 30 at 2 PM against Crook County. Their only loss since September came against Central Catholic, a powerhouse in 6A volleyball. They look to continue their streaks of winning Saturday.
What a game from the Football team. They went into Canby and dominated both sides of the ball. The Cats got up 31-0 before Canby even got their first points. The Cats’ student section was rocking. So much so, it often sounded like a Wilsonville home game. A huge statement game slingshots the Cats into 1st place and will play host to Churchill in round one. They are favorites to make a deep run into the playoffs and possibly take home a state championship.
Upcoming Schedule:
Boys Soccer 11/3 vs TBD
Girls Soccer 11/2 vs TBD
Volleyball 10/30 vs Crook County 2 PM
Football 11/5 vs Churchill 7 PM
