Wilsonville High School Theatre presents ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream.’ Opening night is March 2nd.

This year for the spring play at Wilsonville High School, the theatre department is presenting Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Nights Dream.” Everyone has been preparing for the show that takes place March 2-5.

Senior Chance Kirk says that rehearsals have been off to a good start so far. “They’ve been good. I feel like the closer we get, the better prepared we’re getting.” Freshman Kate Thomas also said that rehearsals have been a lot of fun. “My favorite part of being in shows is watching everyone develop their character at first, the community grows and becomes more tight-knit, then the show comes together, and then all of a sudden it’s opening night.”

Kate’s character in “A Midsummer Nights Dream” is Cobweb. Cobweb is one of four fairies who serve the queen fairy, Titania. Kate shares that in this production Cobweb is grumpy, angry and a rebellious character. “I have loved playing a fairy, and especially one who is different from normal fairy standards.”

“A Midsummer Nights Dream” opens March 2nd at 7pm at Wilsonville High School. “I think we do a good job of taking texts that are hard to understand and making it more personable and easier for people of our generation to understand,” shared Chance on his thoughts of why people should come see the play. Junior Keira Kerner also stated, “everyone who is in it has worked really hard and in my opinion I think it’s a really fun show.”

Tickets for “A Midsummer Nights Dream” are on sale now for March 2, 3, 4, 5 at 7pm and 2pm matinee on Saturday March 5.
