Wilsonville Track and Field– Throwers
With the rise of the 2022 spring sports season, our track and field team gets to start their season along with the rest of the sports, and make some waves. In particular our throwers are ready to make some moves, and some already have.
On the first meet of the season we saw the most astounding season starting performance we’ve ever seen in school history: Kylie Fox set the school record for the 600g Javelin at 137 ‘4 feet. “It was a great example of hard work and talent coming together to make a magical moment,” stated Coach Fink. This is also her freshman year, which makes it even more astonishing that in her first ever high school track meet she managed to push the record further beyond.
Upon interviewing Coach Finck, we also got some insight into the mentality a thrower needs and what he believes especially his star athletes need to be focusing on. “The key is to strive for excellence as a thrower, it’s one of those sports where you have to push expectations out of your head,” he said, “rather than thinking about your last mark, you need to think about execution and consistency.”
We wish the best for our track and field athletes as well as all other spring sports. Good luck this semester everyone!
