Wilsonville softball is ranked #1 in 5A via OSAA followed by #2 Pendleton. These two teams came to Wilsonville High School for a double header on Saturday. Wilsonville split the double header winning the first game but losing the second game. Wilsonville was playing all around great during the first game. The Wildcats were doing amazing on offense and providing runs and had solid defense. Wilsonville took the first game with a respectable score of 9-1. Unfortunately, Wilsonville was struggling to come back in the second game. Pendleton found a hitting surge and Wilsonville’s defense was having a hard time. Wilsonville attempted to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning but ultimately lost 10-4.

“I definitely think we played a lot better in the first game. We had better team energy and that helped with getting hits off of Pendletons pitchers.” said sophomore Grace Wilson. “It was a good day to figure out how they played because it is very likely we will see them again in the playoffs.” added sophomore Talia Valdez. Wilsonville Softball agreed that the second game wasn’t one of their bests collectively as a team but they are prepared to learn from it. “I think it was a good learning experience and will help us know how to prepare for future games,” said Wilson. Valdez agreed adding “It was nice to see how the competition was since we are predicted to face them later on but we now need to put our focus on league games and take it one game at a time into playoffs.”

Wilsonville has three upcoming league games this week v.s Putnam, Parkrose, and St. Helens.
