This past Friday, Wilsonville’s MEChA went to the 17th annual PSU educate conference, which is a conference that multiple MEChA groups from across the state are invited to attend.

“Honestly the 17th Annual Educate Conference was an awesome experience. It was my first time going and I can’t wait to go again. I was really lucky to be able to experience this event with our other MEChA members including Ms. Meza,” said co-vice president of MEChA Venecia Gonzalez.

At this event breakfast was served, and after that we heard from keynote speaker, Dr Melissa Patino-Vega, who told us her story of growing up.

Once that wrapped up we then went to workstations, which were activities led by PSU Mecha members. Some options were Loteria, Mecha 101, and a tour of PSU, along with plenty more.

After a workshop we were given lunch, then we headed off to two more workstations.

Then came most people’s favorite part… the baile! Music started playing and various students went to dance after a long day. Once the baile was over, so was the conference.

“Everyone who went had a great time and it was an amazing bonding experience for all of us as a group! I was lucky to be a leader among other leaders and have that opportunity,” said Gonzalez.

If you yourself would like to join in awesome opportunities like this, join MEChA! We meet every Thursday in room 215 (Mr. Ryan’s). See you there!
