Wilsonville beats Bend in non-league matchup
Wilsonville adds yet another W to the column after beating non-league opponent Bend Lava Bears.
Wilsonville and Bend by no means are rivals nor play each other often, however on Tuesday when the two squads squared off it was a tightly contested game the whole 7 innings. Wilsonville ended up winning the nonleague matchup 4-2 and got their 19th win of the season, this win companied a ranking of 3rd in 5A.
Keenan Sanford started for Wilsonville and threw 5 innings of shut out baseball, as he just keeps dominating as the work horse for a great Wilsonville rotation. Wilsonville scraped together 4 runs over the course of 7 inning and Keenan Sanford had this to say about beating Bend “Always great to get a nonleague victory against a solid team in Bend defensively we played good, scraped together some hits, did our jobs, and in the end pitching did really well.”
Bend made the long trip to Wilsonville with a 9-10 overall record but after falling to Wilsonville sustained there 11th loss and dropped in the 6A rankings to 17th. The last week of the regular season is next week and with those last few games comes the pressure of the playoffs looming over everyone’s head, however this Wilsonville team is ready to prove the haters wrong this year as Keenan Sanford put here “The good league competition will get us ready for playoffs and a good last week should get us going before playoffs.”
